The head of state traveled to speak to national troops in the Donetsk region on Tuesday. Zelenskyy announced that he met with fighters at the operational headquarters of the initial brigade of the state defense force Azov, which is managing protective maneuvers in the Dobropillya sector, a town approximately 12 miles from the focal point.

Volatile Situation in the Region

Recent mapping from a Ukrainian project showed that Russian forces had made gains into the city and surrounding areas, though much of it was not fully held by both forces. The conditions are severe, with reports indicating that opposition troops were digging in and building up positions in some districts.

Russian forces continue to advance in the Pokrovsk direction and are reportedly acting with growing ease within the city proper.

Military experts observed that Ukrainian forces had recaptured substantial territory of a Russian penetration in the Dobropillya area, on the east side of the Pokrovsk campaign.

Kyiv's Drone Strikes Inside Russian Territory

Ukrainian long-range drones attacked an industrial plant approximately 1,300km inside Russia at Sterlitamak. City administration confirmed a blast at the Sterlitamak facility that led to the partial collapse to suffer damage, adding that the reason for the blast was undetermined. The Ukrainian military general staff stated there was significant destruction to the plant.

Defense units confirmed attacking a fuel processing plant at the location in the Russian region to the east of the capital. The level of destruction was under evaluation. The Russian regional governor confirmed an attack by 20 drones near the area.

Russian Defense Strategic Shifts

The head of state also signed a law permitting draft enrollment throughout the year whereas before it happened only during limited periods in fall and spring. Russian law prohibits recruits from being assigned to fighting, but after their defense commitment they become part of the backup units, exposing them to potential of being sent to war.

Heavy military spending have also started to stress the federal treasury, with authorities hiking rates to plug a rising deficit.

The President's Requests for Allied Help

The national leader urged the US to stay receptive to providing Ukraine with extended-distance arms. Addressing a European Union summit from the conflict zone, the Ukrainian president also called for more global measures on Russia – including on Russia's gas and nuclear sectors – and said he sought accession to the union prior to the next decade.

Foreign Aid and Diplomatic Changes

Germany plans to raise its military aid to Ukraine by three billion euros next year to about 11.5 billion euros, the treasury department in the capital said on Tuesday.
